Shannon’s career in the law began as a volunteer attorney with the Washtenaw County Office of the Public Defender's Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Division. In 2013, she joined the Detroit Center for Family Advocacy as a staff attorney, where her dedication and expertise led to her promotion to Executive Director three years later. In this role, she tirelessly advocated for parents and caregivers, addressing the legal challenges they faced within the child protection system.
In 2018, Shannon transitioned to The New Foster Care, a nonprofit whose mission is to make a transformative change in the Michigan Foster Care system. As the Executive Director of The New Foster Care for over three years starting in 2021, Shannon oversaw the day to day operations of the agency and was instrumental in advocating for legislative and policy changes in the foster care system.
Now, as the founding attorney of Urbon Law, Shannon continues to be a relentless and passionate advocate, working tirelessly to provide effective legal solutions and support to her clients. Whether navigating complex family law issues, defending against child protective services, or handling guardianship and landlord tenant matters, Shannon’s expertise and dedication make her an invaluable ally to those navigating the complexities of the legal system.
